Whenever this song comes on, I always go quiet. It’s one of my strongest memory inducing songs. One year in high school there was this guy that I hung out with a little bit, and he sang and played guitar and piano. We had a spare at the same time and would spend it together talking about music or life and I’d listen to him play.
I remember one afternoon, we were sitting on the floor across from each other and he started to play this song on his guitar. We sang it together. Our voices seemed to flow so naturally; we hit harmonies without thought, and even when he accidentally skipped a section of the song, our voices never faltered.
I remember we finished, and it was such a lovely moment. I think he thought so, too. Tangerine just begs you to lose yourself in recollections, mostly of a sad or wistful nature, and while we sang, I think both of us were doing that. We’d glance at each other while we sang, and we were connected, but at the same time we knew that the other’s mind was wandering to the past.

Thinking how it used to be, does she still remember times like these?
